Notes: Music & The Spoken Word
May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Singer-songwriter Wendy Keith of Peterborough and Carolyn Edwards of Sunflowers in Jaffrey are hosting an informal evening of live original music and spoken word, called “NOTES,” on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 6-8:30 pm. In this area that is so rich in musical talent as well as written and spoken word, the evening will combine the best of both worlds.
Beginning at 6 pm, a buffet of hearty soup, salad and bread will be served. At 7 pm, the first half hour set will feature Doug Farrell, one of the founding members of the popular acoustic band, Decatur Creek. Next the audience will be treated to the story-telling craft and lovely presence of singer and writer, Grace Aldrich, recently published in Yankee magazine. Jim Kates, poet, literary translator and author of the chapbook Mappemonde and of a poetry collection Metes and Bounds, will read selected poetry. Singer-songwriter Julie Snow will round out the evening with a set of songs she has written and recorded, most recently “No Ordinary Love.”
“NOTES” will be the first of what Keith and Edwards trust will be a monthly opportunity for musical and spoken word artists to join together to present “an eclectic and comfortable evening of nourishment for both body and soul,” says organizer Wendy Keith.
Admission: $15 reservations are encouraged.
